A living archive of becoming.
BLACKBUTTERFLY is not a brand. It is a living practice.
This space holds work shaped by memory, ancestory, and lived experience. Each piece is an act of remembering, A return. A refusal to let what has been carried in the body disappear into silence.
Here, art becomes a language for what cannot always be spoken.

BlackButterfly was born the moment I decided to live in my truth.
The system, my relationships, and my medical experiences kept me on high alert. In every space, I found myself muting my truth and dulling my shine.
This is me exposed.
My voice being heard.
I refuse to carry all the pain within. Research is one thing, but creation gives me space to understand myself.
My life has been marked by trauma, abuse, but urge to push forward.
Mentally, I’ve moved forward.
But my body remembers, even when I wish it didn’t.
I lost my mother to breast cancer. I watched as her physical form deteriorated, one sense at a time. Touch is the last of our senses to depart, so I held her hand until her final breath.
I married who I believed was my soulmate, but when I gave love, I received pain. I promised myself never again in this lifetime, will l ever shrink myself to appease someone else.
In a world of many possibilities, my one constant is my truth.

I speak through my art. Art gives form to what has no language. It allows grief, fear, and memory to move instead of stagnating. It gave me a way to remain in my body when dissociation felt safer.
Art helped lead me to the spiritual form my mother took.
A butterfly.
BlackButterfly exists at the intersection of art, memory, and nervous system awareness. It is slow by necessity. It honours rest, reflection, and honesty. It allows complexity without demanding resolution.
This work is archival.
It is alive.
It will continue to change as I do.
I create work that resists forgetting.
